Salaks is a locally owned aquaculture group from Salangen in Troms county, Norway. We have created values in the local community since Odd and Elsa Bekkeli started hatchery production in Salangfisk in 1979.
Today, we have permits that allows us to produce around 15 000 tonnes of salmon per year at our sites in Salangen, Lavangen, Dyrøy, Sørreisa and Harstad municipalities.
Salaks is a fully integrated aquaculture group with 140 employees.
We have our own hatchery where we can produce six million smolts every year.
At the harvestcompany, we harvesting and pack about 70 000 salmon a week. That's the equivalent of three or four trailers of fish every single day from Salangen to the markets around the world.
We are also co-owners of a local well boat company together with our neighbours in Gratangen and Andørja.
Our production also has certification in GlobalG.A.P. and ASC at all stages.
We are proud of our local owners and it is important for us to contribute to a good and sustainable community around us. We are involved in creating good and local jobs, and we make our purchases with local suppliers wherever possible.
