Salaks Produktion is a locally owned aquaculture company that produces about 15,000 tonnes of salmon a year.
We have been producing salmon and creating value in the local community since Odd and Elsa Bekkeli started the company Salangfisk, which produced fry, in 1979. Production of food fish and today's Salaks Production was founded in 1985.
We currently have production rights that allow us to produce around 15,000 tonnes of salmon per year. We do this in our eight sea locations in Salangen, Lavangen, Dyrøy, Sørreisa and Harstad municipalities.
Of our total 140 employees, about 60 of them work with the actual salmon production in the sea. We have always been concerned with creating good ripple effects in the local community, which we contribute by being a large and important workplace in Salangen Municipality and in our region. In addition to producing salmon in the sea, we also create jobs at the slaughterhouse and hatchery, as well as in our shipping business.
As far as possible, we shop locally and use local suppliers.
We are innovation-oriented and quickly adopt new technologies that can improve fish welfare and make our production more sustainable. That is why we have chosen, among other things, to invest in lice lasers at all our sea locations.
We also operate a teaching permit in cooperation with Senja High School from 2023 to 2033. Through our own development project “FjordMax” we have also been awarded six development permits.
